My research lies within the areas of formal semantics, ontologies and terminology.
In 2007, research in the Department was reorganised in research groups, my research falls within the scope of the Research Group of Terminology, Lexicography and Professional Communication. I work with principles of terminology work, more specifically with formal feature specifications and feature structures from feature theory, for the representation of the characteristic features of terminology, in order to facilitate the terminologist’s task of developing concept systems and definitions. Together with other researchers from CBS, I participate in the multidisciplinary research prject SIABO - Semantic Information Access through Biomedical Ontologies, where my contribution lies within the area of otology construction.
Together with a colleague from SDU, I work with cost-benefit analysis of terminology work in organisations.
Since 2004, I have participated in work concerning terminology in the International Standardisation Organisation, ISO. I am a member of the technical committee TC 37 'Terminology and other language resources', and since 2006 i have been convenor of the working group responsible for the fundamental standards concerning principles of terminology work.
During 1999-2007 I have participated in the interdisciplinary project OntoQuery and its steering committee. The research project deals with content-based information search and aims at contributing to the international research in formal ontologies, ontology-based natural-language semantics and concept-based search. See www.ontoquery.dk .
Within formal semantic I have worked at Montague semantics, generalised quantifiers and boolean algebra for the analysis of definite NP’s (proper names and NP’s with possessive pronouns). In the analysis of proper names, I have also touched upon the semantics of copulate verbs.
