Research

The Center’s research in strategic management and international business makes use of the same theory developments as the neighboring research fields: transaction cost economics, agency theory, resourced-based theory, knowledge management etc. A lot of the research carried out uses integrative theory and centers around collaborative thinking and empirically using ideas from economic theory (e.g. transaction cost economics) and knowledge management. The research therefore comprises both fundamental, basic research and applied research.

The Center's research comprises the following subjects and issues:

  • Which role does organization play for the understanding of performance differences among firms?
  • How can administrative mechanisms optimize the use and creation of knowledge? Which role do “new HRM practices” play in this context? Which role do pay-for-performance systems have?
  • How can the ongoing outsourcing process best be understood? Which role does knowledge (on different levels) play in the process? Which role does modularizing of products and processes play?
  • Which role does learning play for foreign subsidiaries?
  • What are the fundamental conditions that allow firms to obtain competitive advantage?
