Research

In brief, the research at the Center for Statistics essentially can be said to reflect the national tradition within the field. The Danish tradition (which to a certain extent can also be called the Scandinavian tradition) is characterised largely by having its basis in the statistical model concept. The statistical model and its attributes can be seen as central, while the choice, of which quantities to compute and how to interpret them, are seen as something resulting from the choice of model.

The Center for Statistics sees its primary research task as the study of statistical models that have shown themselves to be applicable within business economics disciplines. This includes a wide array of models with applications within such varied areas as marketing, benchmarking production companies, organisation, sensitometry, auditing, credit scoring and finance.

It is our goal to cover all of the areas within statistical methods that one can reasonably assume are applied within business economics. This, of course, is not 100% achievable, but we believe we are able to help a great deal of the many students and faculty that contact us about a statistical problem.

Our most recent challenge, which we cannot yet fully meet, consists of advising and guiding (and perhaps contributing to) the jungle of statistical methods being developed within the areas of finance and financial econometrics. But, we are working on it!
