About the Department

LPF/MPP is one of the large departments at CBS with approximately 70 faculty members, 14 administrative staff members, and a fluctuating number of visiting researchers, research and project assistants.

The department was formed in 1995 with the objective to undertake research and teaching in the management area understood in a broad sense (Management and Leadership). MPP has been characterised by its focus on problems surrounding management that can be observed in the boundary regions between management, economics, politics and philosophy. Disciplines that had previously been seen as separate disciplines.

The Environment - Socially and Professionally:
At MPP all employees are equally important in the sense that we emphasise our different roles within the knowledge production. Even though we are divided into self-governing units, we consider ourselves to be one working unit, and the department is characterised by a good social tone. It is precisely the social environment that results in what we take to be a creative and original research environment; an environment that is characterised by scientific curiosity and openness, but also by being extremely ambitious.

Values in practice:

  • MPP is committed to close interaction with stakeholders, companies and public organisations
  • MPP’s research is intended to make our knowledge production relevant and socially robust
  • We aim to establish a vital research environment with cooperation built on respect and trust
  • There must be room for experimental research practices
  • MPP understands the importance of satisfying our employees’ need for professional development: for the augmentation of their professional qualifications and the opportunity to solve challenging problems.
