Department of Economics

Economic issues affect many things of our everyday lives, for example:

• consumer choices,
• the market conduct of firms,
• workers' decisions about where and how much to work,
• the reaction of currency markets to changes in interest rates,
• the effects of globalisation on business,
• governments’ determination of economic policy,
• citizens' voting behaviour

These things interact in exciting ways and are discussed daily on television, in newspapers, in boardrooms, in ministries, within political parties and at the hairdresser's!

The Department of Economics (ECON) at CBS engages in a constructive dialogue on economic topics with all interested parties. Activities at the department aim at examining firms from a societal point of view, regarding society as the environment for the activities of private firms and other organisations. ECON focuses on research with clear corporate relevance, but also conducts research in more traditional socio-economic topics.
