Research at the Department of International Language Studies and Computational Linguistics (ISV) focuses on the many issues connected to the Danish business community's use of language in a globalised world, including the ability by companies to communicate professionally in foreign languages and to organise their language processes efficiently and profit from new language technology.
| Vision: ISV must be internationally known for its research in language, the acquisition of language skills, and language technology. Furthermore, ISV should be known for its ability to create knowledge relevant to the surrounding community and for its strong relations to the Danish business community and the general public. |
Active and influential Danish participation in global communication is best ensured through research that identifies the most effective methods of acquiring foreign languages, the translation strategies, which best combine high quality communication and profitability, and the solutions within the field of language technology, which best lead to efficient knowledge sharing and an optimisation of communication.
| Mission: ISV is a language department that produces language research of corporate relevance at the highest international level. The objective of ISV research is to establish how foreign language skills are best acquired and how language is used profitably in corporations and organisations in a globalised world. Furthermore, ISV aims to establish how technology can be used to make language processes and knowledge sharing more efficient. |
