The aim of the book is to investigate the historical background for the Nordic models of capitalism - in other words, how the Nordics have been able to combine strong corporate competitiveness with extensive welfare states and social equality.

The book is the result of an intensive cooperation between researchers from BI Oslo, Copenhagen Business School, Helsinki University and Stockholm School of Economics with support from the Nordplus Programme under the Nordic Council of Ministers.
The book has been published by Palgrave-Macmillan in London and it includes four chapters on the Nordic business systems and eight intensive business historical cases including the ABB group, Carlsberg, Kreditkassen and Nokia.
