CBS students and faculty enjoy access to numerous electronic journals licensed by the CBS Library. The publishers of these journals permit linking to individual journal articles by creating a ‘persistent link’.
Not only are persistent links especially useful when generating syllabi composed of actively linked items, they are also convenient for other purposes that require sharing articles without infringing the rights of publishers/databases.
No short cuts:
In order to create a ‘persistent link’ you cannot use the link displayed when locating an article. You must use the unique code for the item. Frequently this is a DOI – a Digital Object Identifier.
There is no uniform procedure for creating persistent links. Consult the indices of each database to find instructions.
Problems?
By contacting either Faculty librarians or we can help you retrieve items you have been unable to locate in library databases.
