§1 As an institutional library of the Copenhagen Business School the library's main obligation is to serve the needs of the Business School's staff and students. The library is open to the public and its collections may be used by all interested parties.
§2 Any person over the age of 18 with a permanent address in Denmark may benefit from library services by presenting valid identification containing his/her civil registration number, e.g. social security card or student card. In exceptional cases the library may demand security for loans. Alternatively the library may decide to issue a temporary library card.
Library cards will be issued to students and faculty of the Øresund University on submitting valid student identification cards or employment contracts.
§3 All users are registered and receive a library card. Applying for a library card obliges the borrower to abide by library regulations. If a library card is not used for a period of two years, the library card and user record will automatically be deleted from the library's register.
§4 The library card is personal and the holder is responsible for borrowed materials and for ensuring that they are returned in good condition. Borrowed materials must be returned during library opening hours on or before due date.
After opening hours library materials can be returned in the letter box at user’s own risk.
§5 The use of library data bases and electronic journals by remote access is reserved for CBS faculty, staff, and students exclusively. Logins and passwords are strictly personal and may not be disclosed. Violations of these conditions will be reported to the University Director.
§6 The library must be notified of changes of address and email account. Where feasible, library correspondence will be conducted by email. Bills will be sent to a registered address by surface mail
§7 The loss of a library card must be reported to the library. Users are responsible for loans until the library has been notified of the loss. The card can be blocked by using self service.
§8 The library cannot be held responsible for library users' reproduction of library materials either in paper or electronically.
§9 The loan period for books is usually 4 weeks. The loan period is 2 weeks for the following items: books with reservations at the time of issuing, journals, and AV materials. Receipts are issued for all library loans. Note that receipts serve the dual purpose of stating a due date for the timely return of library materials, and serving as a first recall notice. Normally materials placed in reference collections, reserve collections and other special collections may be used on library premises only.
§10 Items may be renewed electronically for up to four times provided they are not requested by others. Thus the maximum loan period for books may equal 112 days for books and 56 days for journals.
§11 In the event of fines, these will feature on receipts issued upon returning library materials. Receipts of this kind are valid proof of having returned library property. Similarly, a till slip is valid documentation for payment of fines, while a written receipt is issued as documentation for the payment of bills
§12 For the untimely return of borrowed items, users will be fined according to the number of days the item is returned after due date. The process is not affected by library closing days or the non-receipt of bills issued by the library. See separate information regarding fines: Prices & fees
§13 If borrowed items are not returned within 35 days after due date, the card holder will receive a bill covering the cost of replacing the items. In addition, the card holder will be charged an administration fee which must be paid regardless of whether the items have been returned or the card holder having received a bill.
§14 In the event that borrowed items have been lost or damaged, card holders must pay for the purchase of a replacement copy or for repair. This also applies to cases in which the card holder is not personally responsible for the late return or damage caused to the item.
§15 The library cannot be held responsible for the use of library lockers and the lockers may not serve as storage for library materials originating from reference or reserve collections, or library materials not checked out to card holders. Lockers containing any of these materials will be emptied and card holders will be fined DKK 5.-. Personal property found among the contents may be claimed at the library reception.
Lockers reserved for CBS students: 35 days after termination of the loan period, the library will collect a replacement fee of DKK 250.- for unreturned keys. This fee will be added to fines accrued for exceeding the loan period thus amounting to a total of DKK 400.-. The amount is payable regardless of whether the key is returned at a later date. It is not allowed to keep food and fruits in the lockers.
Lockers on “same day” loan: Keys to these lockers must be returned within library opening hours. Users failing to do so, will be charged a fine of DKK 5.-. These lockers are emptied daily by library staff. Personal property found in lockers will be restored to the rightful owners at the reception. The library will collect a replacement fee of DKK 250.- for keys not returned within 8 days.
§16 Following appropriate notice, unpaid bills are sent for collection to the Central Tax Administration/the Unit for Recovery of Claims.
§17 Library users are banned from borrowing materials if an amount of DKK 200.- or more is owed. The ban will be lifted when the debt is settled. Users may also be banned if borrowed items are repeatedly not returned on time or in good condition.
§18 The CBS Library offers interlibrary loan services to CBS students, faculty, and staff exclusively. Items originating from other libraries may be subject to the loan regulations of the lending library.
§19 Fees may be charged for certain special library services.
§20 Food and alcoholic drinks may not be consumed on library premises. Exempted are biscuits, fruits and sweets. Smoking and the use of mobile (cellular) phones is prohibited.
§21 Conversation is not allowed in individual study areas. Group work is only allowed in the group rooms and by the group tables at the basement.
§22 Library users failing to observe library regulations or instructions from library staff to ensure a quiet study environment may be expelled from the library. Repeated violations of library regulations or misconduct may lead to being banned from the library.
§23 Rules governing the use of other library facilities, e.g. the library's reading rooms, group rooms and the study places at the 2nd floor (for CBS students only) are advertised on location.

Central Tax Administration / The Unit for Recovery of Claims
If an item is not returned after a bill has been sent, the library will, after giving notice, forward the case to the Central Tax Administration/the Unit for Recovery of Claims (SKAT/Inddrivelsescentret). In such cases a fee of DKK 65.- will be added to the total amount to cover the library’s administrative costs.
Central Tax Administration/the Unit for Recovery of Claims will add their own charges to the outstanding amount owed to the library. This charge is currently DKK 100.- per new case.
Unpaid fines will also, with notice, be forwarded to the Unit for Recovery of Claims. Similarly, a fee of DKK 65.- will be charged to cover the library's administrative costs.
Once the library has forwarded a bill to the Unit for Recovery of Claims, the bill can only be settled as a result of contact between the borrower and the Central Tax Administration/the Unit for Recovery of Claims.
However, the library maintains contact with the Financial Administration Agency and will cancel the claim in the event that overdue items are later returned.
